...making butterflies for Leah...
(who's now headed back to university for her final year! x)

...hoops were bound with fabric scraps...
and the butterflies were embroidered on left over pieces of
very lovely Ian Mankin linen...( just enough for each hoop!)
...a zillion shimmery threads of colour catching the light...
made very much on an impulse but hopefully they'll look
pretty fluttering their way up Leah's duck egg wall ;-)

...and I seem to be noticing butterflies everywhere I shop since making them...
I have a gorgeous new butterfly mug but I'll have to show you next time
... my photo session ended with a dark and thundery summer afternoon ...
...hence the fairy lights in the last pics!...

.... Scottie dogs were made in Scotland ....
(and brought all the way home by Ashley x )

  ♥    ♥

...and so a lovely summer has just flown by...
...can you believe we're in September?...

...back soon with yarn news...
(I'm busy this week working on the layout for my new knitting pattern
...all photos taken...hurrah!...
and working on the Chrystal translation with Nancy x)

...until then...

...take care all...

  6. Hello Susan - it is so good to see you new post! As usual, you have surpassed yourself with the beautiful things you have done. Your butterflies are simply exquisite, and I have fallen in love with the fabric - covered hoops you have displayed them in. An idea I might be borrowing, if you don't mind?!
Reading your posts give me so much pleasure, and the sight of your work is my inspiration.
    Have a lovely, creative week!
    Take care,
    Love,

  8. The colors in those silken butterflies are exquisite! It's clear that you truly enjoyed exploring the possibilities within this project. The results are terrific...each hoop has a lovely light touch not giving a hint of how many stitches were involved in letting those wings fly.

    Best wishes!
